Pigmented lesion removal
Most people start to notice darker spots on their skin as they age. These are often described as age spots and they result from the accumulated years of sun exposure. Until more recently, there was little to be done for these nuisance lesions and they were a constant reminder of the "mileage" our skin had attained.
Now, with our Advanced Fluorescence Technology, or AFT, we use specifically isolated wavelengths of light more tailored to be absorbed by these pigmented lesions. With treatment, these lesions darken almost immediately giving us the indicator that a successful application has been achieved. Then, over the next 10 to 14 days, these lesions break apart and fade away.
Preparation for treatment is minimal with sun avoidance four weeks prior to and after treatment. If need be, an area can be shaved but moisture creams are to be avoided.
Side effects are minimal with people resuming their normal activities later that same day.
The patient may experience a mild redness or swelling like that of mild sunburn but if this occurs it usually resolves in hours to one to two days. Very rarely hypo/hyper-pigmentation, blistering and scarring can occur but are very unlikely if proper treatment guidelines are followed.
In terms of the treatments themselves, people often find most dramatic results on the first session. Repeat sessions can further enhance these effects and are recommended every four to six weeks.
